Dear friend, Today, on December 21st, we meet the winter solstice — the longest night and the shortest day of the year. It’s the moment when the sun appears to stand still. And then, quietly, almost unnoticed, the light begins to return. I experience this time as an invitation to pause. To stand still with life. To listen more deeply. Today, I was reminded how much I love lighthouses. And I see myself as a tall lighthouse shining my light. A peaceful light, not anxious. This is the quality of light I want to share in the world. The longest night is fertile ground. Before the year turns, I invite you into a simple moment of reflection. You may want to light a candle. Sit comfortably. Let your breath slow. Feel the ground beneath you. As you exhale, gently breathe into the flame what you are ready to release — a habit, a story, an expectation, a way of being that no longer serves you. With your next inhale, breathe in what you want to call into your life — peace, clarity, courage, trust, love. Stay with this for a few breaths. Releasing… and receiving. You might then take a few minutes to reflect on the year behind you:
No fixing. When you’re ready, thank the flame. You don’t need to have answers tonight. The light has already begun its return. And so has yours. With love, P.S.: A question you may want to sit with: What is mine to do to help create the world I want to live in? P.P.S.: If this story made you nod, smile, or breathe a little deeper, and you'd like to say thank you in a small but meaningful way, you can leave me a little tip (or coffee!) here: Your support helps me keep creating and sharing my work from the heart. 💛 Did a friend send you this email? Hey there, Recently, I came off a closing session with a coaching client. It was a moment of reflection, integration, and quiet completion. She has chosen to remain anonymous, which I fully respect. A seat in the snow, a story held in privacy. I feel deep gratitude and awe for what unfolded over the past six months. When we first began, she was living in a place of hopelessness and depression, caught in resentment and relentless rumination. Anxiety and a very rigid upbringing had shaped an...
Hey there, Today, February 2nd, marks the midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Here in Michigan, it feels like we’ve only made it halfway through winter, not exactly early-spring behavior. A cold front has been moving through many parts of the U.S., and everything seems frozen in time. Today, following the Catholic tradition, it’s Candlemas (Mariä Lichtmess). In pre-Christian times, this day was also known as a “feast of lights” celebrating the returning strength of the...
Hey there, We are in deep winter. And I mean deep. Minus 20 degrees Celsius last night.(I’m a Celsius girl, but when Fahrenheit goes into the minus, even I understand it. 😏) It’s quiet out there right now. Here in Michigan, the ground is frozen. The inland lakes are frozen too, and ice fishing has become a perfectly normal weekend activity.Everything above ground has paused. Standing on the ice, Lake St. Clair And yet, this is the part that always humbles me. Beneath the surface, life is not...
